History

Built by Heartland is 2003, Greenstone Hill was launched as the first "live, work, play" environment. Greenstone is a part of Edenvale which started out in 1903 after the Anglo Boer War as a small settlement named Rietfontein, which sprung up around the Rietfontein gold mine. The area was initially populated by Cornish miners, whereas Greenstone hill remained farmlands until it was developed.

Greenstone hill is comprised largely of retail spots, being Greenstone mall, Stoneridge Shopping Centre and smaller shopping centres compared to having only two office parks. Greenstone hill is approximately 9-11km from OR Tambo international airport via the R24 or Electron Avenue, 9.8km from the Marlboro Gautrain station via the N3 Eastern Bypass and 5 minutes from the future Modderfontein Gautrain Station.

Any goods or services can be attained from the multitude of Retail centres in the area, the biggest and most popular being Greenstone mall and Stoneridge Shopping Centre, with the smaller centres being Green Valley Shopping Centre, Stonehill Crossing and Eden Meadows.
